Picking the Right Toothbrush

Posted .

When you are buying a car, or a house, you take your time, right? If you are picking out produce, you don’t just grab the first apple, tomato or onion you see, do you? It stands to reason that you should take a little time when picking out a new toothbrush.

The most important feature of any toothbrush is its bristles. You want soft bristles that can gently scrub your teeth, but not damage the enamel or irritate your gums. Second, you want a toothbrush with a head that is small enough to reach every part of your mouth. You may want to select a toothbrush that has an application on the other side of the head that can be used to clean your tongue or cheeks. You should select one that is easy for you to hold.

If you have range-of-motion problems or difficulty holding your arms up, you may want to consider an electric toothbrush. You should talk to our dentist, Dr. Carey Norton, to find out what toothbrush may be best for you.

You should replace your toothbrush, or the toothbrush head of an electric toothbrush, every three months or when the bristles become worn or flattened, or look like they are drooping. If you want to talk about toothbrushes, or if it is just time for your routine cleaning and exam, we would love to see you at Dacula Family Dentistry in Dacula, Georgia.
